Misplaced priorities and attempted celebration.

Today... yesterday, I guess... is/was my birthday. 22. Nothing too spectacular about that number, I suppose. I don't feel 22 (I say that every year... "I don't feel older!"). On a side note, Ryan took me to see Taking Back Sunday last night, and it was AMAZING!!! Sooooo good!! What a great show! :)

The daytime part of my bday was booooring... I wanted to go to the pool all morning and afternoon, but couldn't drag myself out the door. Finally, Theresa got off work, and me, her, and Nadia went to Cracker Barrel so I could get a free dessert. Hahaha. I'm such a mooch.

In the evening, I went to my New Testament class at the Underground like I do each Wednesday... during which Theresa texted me and said she was going home, bc the docs decided that her mom needed surgery in the morning. I felt so dumb when I called Jordan later to see who would be taking over her post at the bowling alley (Theresa was originally going early to reserve lanes). Like... seriously. Bowling. How unimportant when compared to what they are going home for... but still. Something that needed to be taken care of. I just felt retarded. "Um, so I hope everything goes okay at the hospital... I'll pray for you... so, anyway, who's at the bowling alley?"

Meanwhile.

Class ended. I was driving back to USF area when I got a call from Ryan. "Bad news... I got in a car accident." Apparently he was driving down Skipper, and someone stopped suddenly to turn into a complex... the guy behind that person stopped suddenly as well, and Ryan slammed on his brakes but hit him anyways. The person who Ryan hit (who we know, oddly enough) didn't recieve much damage... but Ryan's hood crumbled like an aluminum can. So, I took a detour to the crash site instead of heading straight to the bowling alley. Exchanging of information, taking photos, and pushing the car into my apartment complex ensued once I arrived (thanks for the help Hugo, bc that part would have been pretty much impossible without you!!). Ryan's parents came by as well, just to help out. His car is currently sitting in my apartment complex, waiting to be towed in the morning. It might be totaled... we'll see.

Finally, off to the bowling alley, and only about an hour and a half late to my own dang party!! I felt bad rushing Ryan off... once again, he crashed his friggin' car and here I am trying to get to the dang bowling alley. Thank God the crash wasn't worse. But still... I don't know. Do you understand the title of this entry, now? But I guess the show must go on, right?

We walked in, and found our friends occupying the 5 last lanes... and I was greeted by someone calling out "She's here!!" and everyone singing "Happy Birthday." I felt so special. :) Green and purple star-shaped balloons floated above containers full of cupcakes that also spelled Happy Birthday, complete with star-shaped confetti. It was pretty freaking sweet, I must say... it made me so happy to see everyone there! Seriously, I have amazing friends. I'm sad that Theresa and Jordan couldn't be there... because I know Theresa felt bad about it (she always feels bad about things that are totally out of her control!). But when it all came down to it, I did have a really good birthday. Everyone who went... you're amazing. I love you all.
